There is no definitive answer to this question as it can vary depending on the school, program, and state. However, most internships have a notice period of 2-4 weeks.
Also, it is generally expected that interns will give their host organization as much notice as possible if they need to end their internship early.
Should a student need to quit an internship ahead of their last employment day, the school will usually step in to speak to the company to negotiate for a shorter notice period (but the student can still speak to the company too, if he or she wants to).
